Who Will Win?
"Hope everyone will carefully consider the proposition. The price that I have given out for your shops, please take a look. If you do not feel satisfied, we can negotiate," Hua Zhu Yu said with a light chuckled and a guard immediately handed everyone a contract.
The room was suddenly very quiet as everyone looked over the contract, making the sound of cicadas outside the window appear noisier.
Leisurely sitting in her seat, Hua Zhu Yu was in no rush as she silently waited for everyone's expression to change. She tilted her head to the side and strands of her ink black mane descended on her shoulders. Although her hair was combed into a high bun, a few strands had fallen to her waist and was gently swaying with each movement of her fan.
No one present had witnessed such a beautiful man before.
They felt as though they were gazing at a beautiful flower through a mist as it was hard to presume his background nor did they dare to arbitrarily speculate.
Not just anyone could afford to take out the amount of silver written on the contract. Was this person that affluent?
With the contract in hand, everyone was tight lipped. Though they still wanted to decline the offer, no one dared to be the first to speak.
In the end, someone noticed the fan in her hand and his face instantly changed.
Beneath the fan hung a red jade pendant that was exquisitely fas.h.i.+oned, exhibiting its excellent quality. Of course if it was just a good piece of jade, as long as one had a large amount silver one could buy it. The peculiar part was that in the blood red jade pendant, there appears to be a vague trace of white.
"Bao gongzi, don't know if you can let this old man take a look at your fan." In the group of people present, there was an elder in the jewelry business who pointed at the fan in Hua Zhu Yu's hand and excitedly asked.
"Oh, of course." Hua Zhu Yu smiled and pa.s.sed the fan in her hand over.
The elderly man received the fan and put on his gla.s.ses to carefully a.s.sess the jade pendant on the fan.
Inside the blood red jade pendant, he saw a modest sized white dragon vaguely stirring inside with eyes, a nose, mouth and even claws, looking extremely lifelike, as though it was a living creature.
The elder was astounded and reluctant to part ways with the jade. The surrounding people also came closer to take a look at the strange jade. In the end, the elder returned the fan to Hua Zhu Yu with unsteady hands and said," This old man has dealt with jade all his life, to be able to witness the dragon jade today, this life has not been wasted."
Now everyone knew that this was the dragon jade that was naturally formed. This was a priceless treasure with only a few pieces ever seen in the world. It could be seen that this Bao gongzi was truly powerful and he definitely had the means to acquire all their shops.
But why would such an affluent man like him come to Jingling to acquire their shops? This aspect made them quite suspicious.
"Please, dine, if you are willing to sell, once we have finished our meal we can sign the contract. If you don't want to, you can return with ease." Hua Zhu Yu said while waving the fan nonchalantly.
Everyone began to dine with unsettled hearts as it was the first time they had ever seen not to mention tasted such delicacies. After the food was eaten and the wine was drank, everyone stood up and prepared to depart. However, no one signed the contract and all said that they wanted to go back first to carefully think it over. After all, some of these shops were given to them by their ancestors so the decision to sell wasn't an easy matter.
Hua Zhu Yu narrowed her eyes, displaying traces of helplessness.
"Then I hope everyone will carefully consider the proposition. I'll advice again, this selling price is definitely the highest in town," she said.
The businessmen all sounded in agreement and then left.
Waiting till they had all left, Hua Zhu Yu then let out a long sigh of relief. She intended to go upstairs to meet Huangfu Wu Shuang but just as she was about to lift her hand she caught sight of him standing on the top floor gazing down at her, his deep eyes not divulging any emotions.
Looking at him like this, he was towering and unfathomable. But once he opened his mouth, his true temperament was revealed. "You sure are brazen, going around showing off this prince's treasure so fittingly, making this prince even doubt whether you're the most distinguished person here or not?" he slowly said. Then he coldly roared, "Say, you're just a little eunuch, it's useless to be beautiful. This prince really wants to use a knife and carve on that face of yours. "
Hua Zhu Yu truly felt speechless. Who made her an eunuch? Wasn't it this little devil himself!
"This servant wasn't always an eunuch!" said Hua Zhu Yu.
"Not an eunuch but still a commoner!" retorted Huangfu Wu Shuang.
Hua Zhu Yu was at a loss for word. Who declared that only royalties were born with beautiful looks while commoners were hideous? In Huangfu Wu Shuang's head, were commoners such lowly people?
"Your Highness Crown Prince, this servant truly was a commoner, but don't know if the Imperial Tutors has taught Your Highness this saying: Commoners can move the boat, but they can also overthrow it. In truth, commoners aren't lowly people, if not for the thousands of commoners fighting against the enemy, how would Southern Kingdom still be standing? And all the things that Your Highness use, are they not all bought with the tax money of the commoners?" Hua Zhu Yu said as she narrowed her eyes.
She truly did not understand how those Imperial Tutors were teaching the crown prince.
"You dare speak that way to this prince?" asked Huangfu Wu Shuang through rigid lips, as a spark of anger was ignited in his deep eyes.
