Zhu Duqing was sent away rolling on the ground from a vicious attack. However, he was a stubborn man and refused to stand down. He swiftly spat out a mouthful of blood before laughing scornfully. "Ha! Ha! Ha! That was great! Are you trying to prove yourself by defeating me?"

Yun Yanli certainly did not appreciate his mockery, so he hit him another time. Yun Yanli had gotten almost everything that he wanted from this trip. However, the strangeness of it all left him with a weird feeling.

Many of his men were curious about the jade statue and started to guess what material it could be made from that made it so indestructible. It managed to embarra.s.s the almighty Governor Yun so publicly. Moreover, could the statue be the Devil King? Was he the one who had brought a series of doom and gloom to the Shura World? Could a statue really be so powerful? And, if the Devil King had always been so powerful, he should have conquered all of the cities a long time ago, right? Why would he stay hidden in the Devil Kingdom for so long?

Some people were well aware that the Devil King had mastered some degree of Kung Fu that was certainly admirable. But, they also heard that it was nothing above that of a Golden Immortal. Logically speaking, the Devil King would still be defeated by Yun Yanli if they were to battle one another. Therefore, how could the Devil King's statue cause so much resistance to Yun Yanli when he was obviously not a match for him?

Perhaps, the statue did not belong to the Devil King but belonged to G.o.d. The crowd started to make some speculations, but no one had not found the courage to voice out their thoughts. They only stared at each other blankly, waiting for some direction.

Yun Yanli could tell that some of his men were starting to have some doubts about what he had said before. He looked down and put a tight smile on his face. "Burn this place! Let's go back!" He said nonchalantly.

A wildfire engulfed the entire place almost instantaneously, and the villagers could be seen sobbing. For the past week, they had been leading a very peaceful and secure life back in the valley. Then, a fire came and took their homes away.

They knew that they could always rebuild their homes, but how could they restore the wizardry barrier that could shelter them from the corrosive blood rain? Even if they survived this calamity, they could only live in the city from now on. They would have to be the sc.u.m of society again.

They turned to Gu Xijiu and caught her staring at the fire as well. Even in such a difficult situation, she did not look very depressed. From her eyes, they could clearly see the courage that she possessed. Her presence alone had become a pillar of hope for the people. Everything was possible if they made it possible.

Moreover, Di Fuyi's statue possessed such an incredible source of power, which also proved that he was not only alive but was also growing stronger. As long as he was alive, they could be hopeful. He will surely wake up, they thought. And, he would come back stronger than before.

It was often said that a man's mistress should be kept in a splendid abode. Emperor Wu Di of the Han Dynasty used to be fond of his cousin, Chen Ahjiao, so he made her a promise that if they were to get married someday, he would build her a splendid house decorated richly in dazzling gold to show her how much he actually adored and cared for her.

When they finally got married, he did as promised and made her a very beautiful house in majestic splendor. For a while, she was the only one who had all of his attention. However, things changed when he had a change of heart and fell for someone else. She was deposed and stripped of her t.i.tle as his queen. She ended up spending her entire life being imprisoned in the palace, never to see the emperor again.

Gu Xijiu knew the origin of the legend. What she did not know was that one day, she would end up staying in a majestic house, or more accurately, be imprisoned most fancily. The interior of the building was magnificent and luxurious. From the walls to the ceiling, every inch was plated with gold. Even the sandalwood furniture was all finished with gold linings.

The bed in the middle of the room was also made of gold, covered in curtains that were woven from golden silk. Surprisingly, the toilet bowl in the corner was even made of gold, too. Her eyes were dazzled by the amount of gold and yellow charm in the room.

It had been three days since the start of her captivity. About seven or eight acupuncture points on her body had been sealed to make sure she had no strength to even stand up properly. A casual walk around the room would drench her in an extensive amount of sweat.
