'Was I too rash to immediately apply for work? Should I have waited first and got a place to stay and get acclimated to the current society?' Marcel asked Avian.
[That would have been a logical course of action, but do you think you can work part-time jobs diligently? The previous Marcel almost failed in getting his high school diploma, besides you had started acting while you were fifteen so besides your high school diploma you only took courses that would help in your acting in university, so besides entertainment, you can only do unskilled labour]
'Unskilled labour? What do you mean?'
[You can only be a waiter, a janitor, work in construction and other jobs like that since you have no qualifications to work in an area that requires more skill] Avian explained.
Marcel thought about it and he really did not think he would be able to last. If he did not get a modelling opportunity maybe he would try gaining fame through social media, but that in itself would force him to have a certain image that did not appeal to him at all. Or should he consider the offer he was given by Linda of being in a boy group? But the amount of work he would need to do already made him feel tired just by imagining it.
With a sigh, he decided to wait until the next day to see if Paul had received any calls. He almost missed his stop because he was so deep in thought and couldn't help but be thankful for Avian's presence. He took his time as he walked back to the orphanage, he was hungry and thirsty since he did not even have a drop of water since he left.
It was already 8 pm when he returned and he went straight to the kitchens. He knew that the kitchens were closed but he went with the hopes of at least appealing to one of the cooks so they can give him something to eat.
When he walked into the kitchen he saw one of the lady cooks. She was cleaning up the kitchen counters alone and looked to be very busy.
"Big sis" Marcel called enthusiastically making the lady turn around.
All the cooks knew Marcel, not because he ate a lot, but because he was very handsome. It was difficult to not notice him since he was very tall, but he always walked around looking gloomy so seeing him stand in the kitchen with a charming smile completely threw off the poor lady.
"Marcel?" the lady asked in the question. She thought she was hallucinating. The boy had always been too reserved. Besides the kid that always hung around him, he never took the initiative to talk to anyone first.
"It's me, Big sis I'm hungry," Marcel said and started looking around the kitchen, but he did not anything.
"Why are you calling me big sis? I'm almost 40" the lady said with a smile. Marcel had forgotten he was no longer a 35-year-old woman and scratched the back of his head in embarra.s.sment.
"Ah-"
"Come here, there's some food leftover in the fridge," the lady said and went to open the fridge.
She took out the rice that had remained and some of the beef stew. She put it on a plate generously and also gave him some vegetables. When she turned to put the food back in the refrigerator Marcel had taken a fork and started eating immediately.
"Why are you eating cold food?" the lady asked and grabbed the plate in his hands before putting it in the microwave.
"I was too hungry," Marcel said feeling slightly embarra.s.sed, He did not know if he could work the microwave so he hadn't bothered.
The lady watched him bite the tip of his fork pathetically and couldn't help but feel bad for him. She took out an apple for him and couldn't help but smile when she saw him eat the apple so ravenously.
"Big sis, what is your name?" Marcel asked between bites.
"Sara, Marcel, you should call me auntie" Sara felt embarra.s.sed that she was being called big sis by such a young boy.
"How can I call you auntie while you look so young? I'll keep calling you big sis" Marcel said as he finished off the apple leaving Sara speechless.
Of course, she did not know that she was being looked at by a 35-year-old woman so she continued to feel embarra.s.sed.

"Your food is done," the lady said and handed him the warm plate of food. Sarah watched him eat with a smile and continued to clean up the kitchen.
Marcel quickly finished his food and washed the dishes he used. He helped Sarah finish up with the cleanup before he was chased away by her. He happily waved at her as he left making Sara smile indulgently. Marcel walked up to the stairs and the moment he entered his room he felt a force knock into him almost making him fall on the floor.
"Liam" Marcel called worriedly making the boy who was hugging his lower body look up at him.
"What's wrong?" Marcel asked when he noticed the tears on his face.
"I thought you were not coming back," Liam said as he blinked his big brown eyes. Marcel was completely speechless when he heard this.
He could not promise the boy that he would not leave but at the same time, he felt that it was difficult to tell him that he would be leaving so he just knelt in front of the boy and stroked his soft hair.
"I came back," Marcel said with a soft smile and he felt Liam's small hands wrap around his neck and hug him.
"I came back, but eventually I'll have to leave," Marcel said as he hugged him back.
"Why?" Liam asked and Marcel could already hear the tears in his voice.
"Because my time to live here is over, so I have to find another place to stay" Marcel replied.
Liam had seen numerous older children who left the orphanage and never came back. He just never imagined that one day it would be Marcel, and the one that will be left behind would be him.
"Can I come with you?" Liam asked.
"I would also like to take you with me, but I still don't have a place to stay, if you stay here you will have a bed to lay on, clothes on your back and warm food in your tummy," Marcel said before releasing him.
"I can't take you with me now but once I can comfortably provide for you, and once you are a bit older, I will come to take you so we can stay together," Marcel promised.
"Really?" Liam asked as he looked at Marcel with teary eyes. Marcel couldn't help but feel his heartache. He could understand why the previous Marcel had decided to stay back for the child.
"I promise. I'll visit you every Sunday until the day I can take you home with me, is that okay?" Marcel said as he wiped the tears on Liam's face and smiled when Liam nodded.
"Good boy, go to bed first, I'll go take a shower," Marcel said and stood up from the floor. He gently led Liam to his bed before he picked up his towel and went to the bathroom.
