"Don't come here to ask me about being contacted anymore. I'm not your secretary" Paul said in annoyance as he threw his phone on the couch.
He did not have much of a social life, but ever since Marcel started using his number he received the most number of calls than he ever had ever since he got his first phone.
"Big brother, can you bear with it for a bit until I get my pay?" Marcel said trying to persuade Paul to continue to do this for him.
"Who is your big brother?" Paul asked as he narrowed his black eyes at Marcel.
"Is there anyone else here?" he asked making Paul frown in discontent.
"You should get a phone, and open a bank account so that they can transfer the money to you. Or were you expecting to get it in cash?" Paul asked feeling frustrated.
"Ah, the bank" Marcel parroted. He had never handled such details when he was still young, his parents did it for him. When he grew up, they just had to transfer owners.h.i.+p and for the rest of his life, his a.s.sistant was responsible for taking care of such matters.
"Yes, the bank. Go and work on it today" Paul said as he ruffled Marcel's hair and went to his studio to work on his equipment. Marcel turned his gaze to look at Milly who was busy on her phone.
"Milly" Marcel said and moved to sit next to her. Milly looked up from her phone when she was called only to see Marcel sitting close to her.
"What is it?" she asked as she moved to create some distance between them and Marcel moved with her.
"What do you want?" Milly asked suspiciously while narrowing her eyes. She was being suspicious about his intentions since he was not even listening to what she was telling him earlier.
"I have a question," Marcel said and smiled dazzling Milly with his straight white teeth.
"What question?" she asked.
"Well, I need to open an account-" Marcel started and was promptly interrupted by Milly.
"Just go with your ID, you'll probably have to fill some forms and they'll open your account for you. They'll also give you a card you can use to get money from the ATM machine.
"ATM machine? You need a bank account to use them?" Marcel asked with raised eyebrows.
"Yes, pretty much everyone that uses them has a bank account," Milly said as she nodded. Marcel reached for his pocket and took out his worn-out wallet and took out the card he received from George.
"So this?" he asked as he showed Milly the card.
"That's a bank card you get after opening an account," Milly said and turned her focus back to her phone.
"Can I use someone else's?" Marcel asked before pursing his lips when he saw Milly frown in annoyance.
"Yes, you can. Just go to the bank to verify it and ask all these questions, why are you bothering me?" Milly asked her voice rising as she continued to talk.
"Which bank is this card from then?" Marcel asked and was glared at by Milly. For a second, he forgot that Avian was around to answer all these questions
"The bank name is on the card!" Milly finally lost it.
"Okay, I'll leave you alone," Marcel said with a sheepish smile as he raised his hands in surrender.
He went to Paul's studio to use his phone so he could ask Sherry's manager about their schedule. After being told that he should go to Big Star to practice in the afternoon, Marcel said his farewells and left Monochrome.
Marcel did not even have to think of practising and automatically did it on his way to the bus stop. Once he got on the bus, he started planning his route. He decided that he would get himself a cell phone first then go to the bank before going to Big Star to practice the dance routine with Sherry.
When Marcel got off the bus he made a beeline to the street that was saturated with stores that sold tech. He went into one of the larger stores but after being intimidated by the prices he left.
After browsing a couple of stores and being told about the specs of different phones, he finally made up his mind to get something affordable. He would buy something better later once he could afford it.
After paying for the phone and registering for a number, Marcel made his way to the business district where it looked like there was a bank after every other building.
After confirming that he had arrived at the correct bank, he went to the help desk to confirm the details of the card he received from George and changed the number that was registered to receive notifications for the transactions.
After he was finished, he stopped at a restaurant to get himself some lunch. It was the first time that he had gotten himself a meal outside the orphanage.
He knew that he would be dancing for hours so it would be good if he at least had some fuel to burn. Besides, with all the walking that he did that day, he was feeling ravenous.
He found himself a window seat and settled himself as he waited for a waiter. It did not take long for a waitress to approach his table with a menu.
Marcel smiled at the waitress as he took the menu from her and started flipping through it. Marcel pulled the hoodie off his head as he felt a bit claustrophobic from it for a moment and he looked up at the waitress to place his order.
"Can I place my order?" Marcel asked hen he noticed that the waitress was just staring at him stupidly. When he did not receive a response he waved at her and she seemed to snap out of her daze.
"Can I place my order?" Marcel asked again and the girl took a notebook from the pocket of her ap.r.o.n. He could not be mad at her since he had the same reaction when he saw himself for the first time.
"Yes," she said and her cheeks reddened making Marcel smile in amus.e.m.e.nt the two tiny dimples at the bottom of the corners of his mouth making an appearance in the process.
Marcel watched as her face turned even redder and decided that he shouldn't make eye contact because it already looked like blood would drip off her face if he pinched it.
Marcel turned the menu to her and pointed at the foods he wanted and asked for a gla.s.s of juice as well. The waitress finally had his complete order after he repeated it to her three times and she reluctantly left his table.
Marcel pulled out his phone and saved Paul's number which is the only one that he bothered to memorise.
After saving it, he texted Paul to let him know that he finally got himself a phone. He then received numerous messages from Paul with contacts from the people that had been looking for him with a message telling him to tell them that they should not bother him anymore.

Marcel chuckled at how eccentric Paul was being. That was the issue with talented people. He was also like that in the past so he only thought he was being cute.
