"You are all going to do a walk-up down and up the platform to stand before the judges. You are going to showcase the clothes you are wearing" The coordinator said as he looked at each and every one of them. Marcel was relieved that he wasn't wearing something shabby in the first place, so that wouldn't affect his confidence.
"Try to answer the questions to the best of your abilities," the coordinator said before leaving the room through a different door. It wasn't like he could give them more advice than he already has. Marcel looked at the people around him and saw that everyone was already fixing up or readjusting their clothes. Some people even started ripping their t-s.h.i.+rts because they felt that what they were wearing was very plain.
u003cWe are just modelling out clothes, not applying to be designer, right?u003e Marcel asked Avian.
[Yes, so you can just adjust your clothes to best compliment them] Avian responded.
Marcel folded the sleeves of his s.h.i.+rt, exposing his forearms, and fiddled with his hair before stopping. He stopped because he realised that the one thing that completed an outfit was the face.
Five minutes later they were called, and they lined up to go into the audition room. Marcel was the last one, so he had the opportunity to observe everyone who was going before him and predict the questions that he would end up being asked. Unfortunately, it wasn't something he could predict as the questions ended up being very random. After the first four people completed their auditions, it was Marcel's turn.
He went up the platform and did the walk that he had practised for hours to the point that he received Avian's approval like it was second nature to him. He removed his sungla.s.ses after he completed his walk and greeted the judges.
"Marcel Melar?" the main judge asked.
"Yes?" Marcel answered.
"I see you've worked with an artist on a music video," another judge commented as they flipped through his portfolio and looked at the photos of him that were submitted for the application.
"Yes I have," Marcel answered.
"How long have you been modelling?" the main judge asked, these were questions that all the contestants as if to loosen them up before asking the main question.
"It's been a little over week," Marcel answered honestly. It wasn't like he could lie about his experience since people could easily investigate it.
"Oh? What made you go into modelling?" the judge asked him, genuinely curious about his reason.
u003cIs this the question? Isn't this the worst possible question they could have asked me?u003e Marcel asked Avian.
[I believe it is, all the best] Avian answered and became silent. Marcel lamented about his situation internally but opened his mouth to answer the question.
"I had the opportunity to see a fas.h.i.+on show last winter, by then I didn't know the specifics but I saw the models walk down the runway and I couldn't take my eyes off of them. I was determined to become like them from then on," Marcel lied with an honest face.
"Why did you start so late then, I'm sure you received offers before considering your looks," a female judge asked.
"Hmm? Offers?" Marcel asked with a confused expression like he did not know what they were talking about. If Linda saw him, she would have cried because she had practically begged him to join her company.
"You never received offers?" the lady asked in surprise.
"Ah, when I went to submit my application I got the offer for the music video, does that count?" Marcel asked his face the epitome of a naïve youth who was unaware of his looks. In the screening room, Julia couldn't stop the laugh that escaped her lips as she watched Marcel's acting. Marie was also stunned when she saw how convincing his acting was. She was not expecting him to do that during the audition.
"Hahaha," the judge laughed as she looked at him.
"Thank you for partic.i.p.ating we'll contact you if you make the cut," the main judge said with a smile on his face.
"Thank you," Marcel said with an innocent smile and walked out of the room with what looked like a hopeful expression.
"What do you think?" the main judge asked the others.
"He seems fun, whether he is really innocent or even if he is acting innocent, he will still make for good tv. We must make sure the program doesn't flop this time, and he has been gaining a lot of popularity over the past few days," the female judge who asked the last question responded.
"He is a very strong maybe for me," a judge that had been quiet the whole time said.
"Me too," the main judge said and put him in the maybe pile.
"I've already set my mind on him," the female judge said, and the other two judges also put him in the maybe pile.
"Take him back to the van," Julia told Marie, who had been standing behind her in a daze.
"Ah, yes. He also said he was hungry," Marie reminded Julia.
"Ask him what he wants to eat, I'll be paying," Julia said with a smile on her face.
"Mmh, I will," Marie answered and walked out of the screening room to go get Marcel who was walking towards the exit.
"How was it?" Marie asked when she caught up with him. Marcel turned to look at her as her sudden appearance surprised him.
"I tried my best, I'm leaving it up to the judges now," Marcel said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"You weren't nervous, right?" Marie asked.
"I was just thinking about how hungry I was. I wanted to finish quickly. By the way, when are we going to eat?" Marcel asked.
"Julia said you should pick what you want, she'll take you to eat whatever you want," Marie said and Marcel smiled brightly at her. Her words were like music to his ears.
